We grant life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.

Story

Make-A-Wish® UK creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. But right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and they don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.

8 years on and I’m still running London. I have talked about this marathon being my last and it might be, but I guess I can never say never - the girls are already suggesting that I should get to 10 because they love it! Ha!.. .Every year it’s just as much hard work though…, the commitment, training, sacrifices, fundraising and resilience it takes to get going again and RUN lots of miles!  Physically I’ve struggled with a niggle in my lower leg the last few years (just tight fascia caused by wear and tear apparently!) but it has been persistent and has slowed me down with my running meaning that I haven’t been able to tolerate as many miles so the strength training has taken a priority to try and rehabilitate! This year the leg seems to have felt a little better thanks to that so I’m hoping it won’t give up on me half way around… and it holds out until the finish - we’ll see!

I run to raise awareness and money for make a wish UK, as a wish visitor I have met many families and children and witnessed first hand the impact of a wish.

I do it to keep Sophia’s memory alive. If she were here today she would have been a wish child, we would have been a wish family.

My final motivation for running is to inspire others. I love the people I meet through running and the friendships I’ve made - I feel equally inspired by other people’s stories. Standing on that marathon start line every year, seeing all sorts of people coming together, all ages, shapes, sizes with their own personal reasons for running is magic. When people come together like that truly special things happen and it’s pretty incredible.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us 💕
