Story
Hello, welcome to my fundraising page for Sue Ryder Leckhampton hospice. Thank you so much for dropping by.
It's a real privilege to be supporting this amazing charity which cares for people at the most difficult times of their lives. Whether, a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition, Sue Ryder are there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
The Leckhampton Court Hospice, which cared for my Aunty Lois and dear friends Janet Benson neè Martin and Ronald Filmer, provides amazing support and care for free, but it costs the Hospice £10,000 every single day to provide this. As a mark of my gratitude I'm taking on this year's London marathon on October 2nd to try and raise some much needed funds.
A bit about me: This is a tough challenge personally. I've never been a runner nor relished it as a leisure pursuit. From age 3, I was rarely without a tennis racquet in my hand. Hitting against walls, in the back lane, in the playground, any place where windows weren't present! I played my first tournament aged 9 and was completely immersed in competitive tennis for over 10 years. So I must have run hundreds of miles during that time. Side to side, back and forth, but with a racquet in my hand it never felt tough. Now I've just got to train to run again without the racquet🎾, in a forward direction, continuously, for as far and as long as I possibly can.
I'm under no illusion, it's going to be mind blowingly tough. Your support and messages really help with the training. Any donation to Sue Ryder, no matter how small, can really help make a difference to this amazing charity. Thank you. Catherine. ❤
