Diana Wynne Jones was a good friend of mine, and a great writer - the creator of many worlds, and of such memorable figures as Calcifer, the fire demon in Howl's Moving Castle.

In March 2011 I visited her several times at St Peter's Hospice, where she eventually died on the 26th. I know that both Diana and her family greatly appreciated the care and concern of the staff there, who did so much to make her final days comfortable. This firewalk is a way to help their work, and to mark the second anniversary of Diana's death. She is much missed.
