Story
Hi there. Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.
I was born in June 2010 10 weeks premature. I suffered a small amount of brain damage during my birth and as a result of that I was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia which is a form of Cerebral Palsy. This condition affects my muscles mainly from the hips down through my legs.
My parents keep telling me I'm such a happy little character who puts smiles on faces wherever I go. They also say that I'm very special and deserve the best chance at life. My family are prepared to do everything possible to help me achieve this which I think is great!
Just recently my family have learned that there is real hope out there for me. A real opportunity for me to walk independently even before starting school! This was unimaginable not so long ago!
What I need is enough funds to have the means to go to America for surgery which will relieve the spasticity from my legs and enable me to walk free. This procedure is called 'Selective Dorsol Rhysotomy' or 'SDR'. Unfortunatly this procedure is only available in America for children my age and for my family this will cost £40,000.00 alone.
There is another similar procedure done in England but i would have to wait 2 years at least until I could have that done which is something my parents do not want to wait for. The muscles in my legs could have fused by then making things more complicated and I do not want that.
In addition to this I will need specialist equipment, private physios and a specialist personal trainer to help build my muscles.
This is why I am here! To help raise the funds required to enable my parents and I to go to America for the surgery & also have the right things in place for my development before and after the procedure.
So please donate anything you can for me & help me find my feet please.
Any donation is a miracle in the making. Please be generous.
My parents have a page each on here titled 'Help Kayla Find Her Feet' both with the target of £60,000 but be aware this is the total they want to achieve through both pages combined. £120,000 would be great though as there are many important and worthwhile things the funds raised could be used for.
