Story
For the second half marathon, I'll be running to raise money for Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest. So I thought where else to run this route than in these areas!
It is estimated that 1 in 4 people suffer from a mental health condition, a figure which is unsurprisingly rising with the challenges and changes to lifestyle brought on by the pandemic.
Mind (CHWF) is an independent charity of Mind, who provide local mental health support services and advice to the London area. Some of the initiatives and services they offer are Aim 4 work (a project that supports people with mental health conditions into employment), Well@Work (a monthly group that supports people in employment who are struggling with stress and other mental health issues), Rainbow Mind (which is run and led by LGBTQI+ people to offer a safe place for people to connect with others), Silver Saturday (which aims to tackle social isolation in the over 50s community) and more.
Donations can go towards supporting those suffering from mental health through these services as well as campaigning towards making society more accessible to those suffering from mental health issues, to name a couple.
All donations, no matter how large or small, are hugely welcomed and appreciated.
I'll be starting the route in the city near my work office, and it will take us through Bethnal Green, Victoria Park, the Olympic Park, Hackney Wick and back.
Thank you in advance for your support.
