In September 2011 I am cycling from Lands End to John O Groats as a personal challenge and a fund raising mission. Most of you seem to think I'm pretty mad for taking this on, especially as I am doing it alone and unsupported - but bring it on I say!!

I have chosen to Cycle from Lands End to John O Groats for the Alzheimers Society because my Grandad (Jock) suffered from Dementia and died a few christmas's ago with it.

Although we lost him at the age of 87, due to the Dementia we actually lost him years beforehand. It was so sad watching him be so confused and depressed but on the upside he did still recognise us on most visits and his face was a picture of happiness when he did.

I know if he was still here he'd be smiling that winning smile knowing I was doing this cycle for him - so please help me get raising some dosh!!!

As well as the Alzheimers Society, I am also raising money for a local charity and residential home Meadowcroft in Thame which is part of The Orders of St John Care Trust. This home has been purposely built with it's own Dementia unit to provide care for Alzheimers/Demetia sufferers. This is also where my Grandad spent his past several years.
