Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!

I have committed to participate in the VSO Accenture Kilimanjaro Challenge in February 2013.  This challenge consists of three components:

1.       Raising money for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO)

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is an international development charity that works in collaboration with Accenture.  This charity places volunteers on projects that enable skills to succeed in East Africa.  As a founding member of VSO’s Business Partnership, Accenture has placed hundreds of employees in VSO roles around the world since 1999.  You can learn more about VSO here: http://www.vso.org.uk/.

2.       Visiting one of Accenture’s VSO projects

My trip will begin in Nairobi, Kenya with a visit to one of our VSO projects!  Accenture partners with VSO in a program called Secure Livelihoods.   Through this partnership, VSO has received grant funding for the global project 'Making Markets Work for the Poor'. Thanks to the provision of pro-bono consultancy support and the secondment of Accenture staff to volunteer placements VSO has been able to build its capacity in key areas such as business development and knowledge management.

3.       Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro

After the project visit, I will join other Accenture employees from around the world on a trek up Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world and the highest point on the African continent (5895m/19,340')! I am personally responsible for my travel, equipment and trek fees, and these costs will not come out of any funds raised.

This is where you come in: you can help me reach my £4,000 fundraising goal by donating to VSO via this page.  Because the VSO charity is based in the UK, donations are collected in British Pounds.  Examples of approximate conversions are: $25 = £15, $50 = £31, $100 = £62, $150 = £93.  Donating is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, your money will be sent directly to VSO.

If you have ever had interest in supporting the type of work VSO does – to bring skills and knowledge to people around the world to help them reduce poverty, then please consider sponsoring me in this fundraising challenge.  Your support will also help Accenture in achieving our Corporate Citizenship objectives.  Any amount is greatly appreciated – not only by me, but by the people in Africa whose lives will be improved by your contribution.  Thank you for your support!
