Story
On May 19th Phoebe and I will be running the Hackney half for the wonderful charity, Certitude.
Certitude supports people living with mental health needs and learning disabilities by providing round the clock support for independent living in the community. Their main focus is on supporting people to live a good, independent life - developing new skills, meeting new people and having new experiences.
As many of you already know, my own mother suffered from bipolar/schizoaffective disorder, and as a family we failed to get the support we very much needed. I wish I'd known about Certitude sooner, as I believe they could have provided the specialist support we were after.
We have chosen to fundraise for this fantastic charity so that others living with learning disabilities or mental illnesses, and their families, can be given the help and support they need sooner. Certitude is relatively small charity, able to focus on individual recovery, and therefore the smallest of donations will have an impact.
All the money raised will go towards specialist intensive support, from helping people leave hospital to getting support in a crisis.
Please donate to this amazing charity with what ever little you can! xxx
