Story

Thanks for visiting our JustGiving Page!

On 21st April we’re setting off for Nepal to take on the world’s most iconic peak, Mount Everest and trekking to the world’s most famous Base Camp!

We fly into Kathmandu and then into Lukla (rated as one on the world’s most dangerous airports!) From Lukla we’ll trek solo without the aid of a guide or porter, carrying all our own equipment weighing approx. 15kg which will feel three times as heavy at altitude!

Our trek will take around 14 days to reach Everest Base Camp and then to retrace our steps.  We’ll be sleeping and acclimatising at basic tea houses along the way. We’ll elevate from 2840m above sea level up to 5364m. Did we mention that altitude sickness can set in from over 3000m?!

All money raised will go directly to Irish Community Care, as we’re funding the cost of the trip ourselves to celebrate James’ 40th birthday. Wander if you can get hold of a cupcake and candle at 5000m+ ……I’ll have to work on my Nepali!

As Trustee for Irish Community Care I’m honoured to support the fantastic work that  they do by taking on this challenge to raise much needed funds.
