At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I'm going to be climbing Ben Nevis this June - the highest mountain in the UK - to help raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society. The Ben Nevis Midnight Challenge involves trekking up the mountain overnight in the hopes of reaching the summit for sunrise.

While I have always wanted to climb Ben Nevis, I'm choosing to take part in this challenge in memory of my grandmother, Maryon Armstrong. This summer will mark the fifth year anniversary of her passing, and she is still very dearly missed. I am so lucky to have so many fond memories from when I was younger of the times that my brother and I spent at the farm with my grandma and grandpa. She was a truly doting grandmother who never hesitated to get on her hands and knees to play with the grandkids or to spoil us rotten with sweets! And while I am so grateful for the years that I had with her, I will always mourn the fact that they were cut short as her long battle with Alzheimer's meant that she actually left us several years before her death.

With that said, this is a cause close to my heart and I'm hoping that you might be able to help sponsor my challenge! Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and makes a big difference in helping to fund further research in the hopes of finding a cure but also in terms of helping those that are currently living with Alzheimer's. Thanks in advance for any support that you might be able to offer - Looking forward to the trek.
