Thanks for visiting my page! I chose to do this challenge because I want to raise money for Cancer Research. This is why:
All of us have been affected by cancer in one way or another and it is destroying the lives of so many people around the world. Unfortunately, a cure for this illness hasn't been found yet but cancer research has shown that there have been great improvements in trying to reduce the number of people getting cancer.
A couple of years ago my mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Thanks to the cancer research that has been done over the past years it was found that the major cause of cervical cancer in women are the Human Papillomaviruses (HPV). Young girls can now get a vaccine, which is called the HPV vaccine, that triggers the formation of antibodies to produce immunity and therefore protects the body from disease. This is, in my eyes, a prime example of how sustainable cancer research is and how it can really help fight cancer.
In june 2014 I’m climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in order to support and raise money for AICR (the Association for International Cancer Research) who are a great charity that help fund many cancer research projects throughout the world and always ensure that funds are spent on the highest research quality.
This project means a lot to me and I am grateful for any donation made no matter how small it might be!
Thank you so much!
