Story

You may not have heard of Kennedy's Disease before. I certainly hadn't until my Dad was diagnosed with it around 15 years ago.  It's a rare inherited neuromuscular disorder that causes progressive weakening and wasting of the muscles. It's an x-chromosome linked disease, meaning that whilst only males are sufferers of the disease, women can be carriers. As a result, this debilitating disease may well affect my family for generations to come. So as I turn 40 this year, and my Dad would have turned 70, I thought it fitting that I should try and raise some much needed funds for this wonderful charity. As a result I will be running my first (and only!) marathon. It's going to be a huge challenge as it's further than I've ever run in my life (I'm up to 20 miles in my training and that's been tough!) but I'm determined to do it. If you can spare any pennies to support me in this challenge that would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
