Story
About 6 years ago for various reasons, best being "it was a good idea at the time", I decided to start running with a local goal that was 3 miles in total which seemed a huge target, little did I know!
I then made the Wellington 10KM run my next goal and managed to haul myself round the hilly 6 miles and I was hooked and gradually the goals got a little bit further away until I had achieved the heady heights of the Taunton Half Marathon.
Always at the back of my mind was running the London Marathon and having been around 'proper runners' I never really thought I would be able to run that far. Finally, after applying numerous times instead of getting the rejection letter the "Golden Ticket" arrived through the post - I got a ballot place (I do think going up an Age Group may have swung it!).
I know I cant ask everyone I know to come up to London on the 22nd April and cheer me on so I have decided to ask for my friends, family and anybody out there to support me by donating to a couple of charities that are well worth supporting.
Camille's Appeal is the childrens brain tumour charity specifically focussed on the support and welfare of children under the age of five.
Undercurrent treatments children are likely to undergo three treatments in an attempt to cure them of this horrific illness all of which have a devastating effect on the bodies of these small children. Camille’s Appeal wants to help these wonderful children and their families get as close to a normal life as possible. The focus of the charity is to work closely with the NHS to ensure that each and every child is given the maximum amount of care to lower the risk of disability and to create and improve rehabilitation care across the United Kingdom.
My second charity is the NSPCC a National Charity that really speaks for itself but still needs donations to continue the brilliant work they do. Go and take a look at my other page http://www.justgiving.com/CarolineRunsForNSPCC and you can then decide which of these two amazing charities you would like to support
