Story

I moved to London in 2011 and a close family friend, Warwick Hoyle,  encouraged me to join Southgate Hockey Club as a way of settling in to London life more easily. Its now 2015, I still play at Southgate and I have met some of my closest friends.

Warwick was diagnosed with cancer soon after my move to London but despite that he continually looked out for me and took a keen interest in my career as a Southgate hockey player, something I really appreciated.

Sadly, a year ago, Warwick lost his battle with cancer but prior to that I had committed to running the marathon for the Southgate Sport and Leisure Trust, a charity he founded.

I want to raise as much money as I can for SSLT and also Sportability, a charity Warwick was passionate about and SSLT have agreed I can split my funds.

We've all got people who went to extra mile to support us in one way or another and I want to raise money to recognise that and as a tribute to Warwick and all he did for me and Southgate Hockey Club.

Thank you :)

About the charity

The Southgate Sports and Leisure Trust (SSLT) was formed in 1996 as a registered charity to acquire and develop a 6 acre site to provide a community sports centre in partnership with Middlesex University on their campus at Trent Park in North London. Today the facilities at Trent Park are home to hockey, running, football and fitness clubs and offer a wide range of coaching and training facilities to introduce and encourage young people to learn about and enjoy sport.
