Story
Ok, so anyone who knows me knows I attempt a little trot every now and then! But now this is serious…I am running the London marathon! But I’m not doing it just to kill myself but I’m doing it to raise money for the absolutely amazing Pilgrims hospice. Not only do they provide excellent care for their patients at their 3 hospice sites but they provide care for people at home and to friends and family of those terminally ill. They are quite simply amazing!
So we all know that I’m a little on the larger size (hey it has just been Christmas!) and although I workout as much as I can, 26.2 miles is a really really long way!
I am under no illusion, I cannot run it all, BUT I will try my absolute best! So there is no time expectation from me just the following 3 goals…
1) do not die (people actually do doing this!)
2) finish the marathon. Actually complete it!
3) raise as much money for pilgrims as possible no matter how much I hurt or want to give up!
So if anyone can spare anything, honestly anything please please sponsor me. If anyone fancies joining me for a very slow run let me know. If anyone wants to cycle while I run/crawl let me know! If anyone sees me out running please shout encouragement, I need it!
The last thing I want to say is…thanks Amelia! I hold you completely responsible for this complete act of madness! You best rub my blistered feet but god I hope I make you proud!
At its heart, Pilgrims is dedicated to providing skilled and compassionate care, free of charge, to people living with an incurable illness in east Kent. Their vision is that people with a life-limiting illness are supported and empowered to live well in mind & body, making the most of the time they have. They care for over 2,500 patients a year, at their 3 inpatient units in Canterbury, Thanet & Ashford, their therapy centres, or in patients’ own homes. With 80% of their funding being voluntary contributions, your support cannot be overstated.
