My daughter Amy attends Stagecoach Aberdeen where she is taught singing, drama and dance.  She has been in a couple of shows at His Majesty's in Aberdeen - namely Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and is about to appear for a 3rd time in Joseph & his amazing technicolour dreamcoat.

I have been persuaded to take part  in a one day event at her Stagecoach school where I will be treated like the children and take part in all three disciplines.  I have promised not to embarrass Amy too much with my dancing!! ;-) as she thinks I'm totally uncool !! - aren't all parents???  There won't be any video footage - thank god!!

I'm looking forward to taking part and raising funds for a very important cause - InterAct - part of the Stagecoach Charitable Trust, Amy is lucky to attend Stagecoach but other children don't get that opportunity!

Stagecoach Charitable Trust runs a project called InterAct - an inclusive performance centre where anyone aged between 10 and 18 is welcome to explore acting, singing and dancing. There is no charge to students and InterAct includes young people with special physical, educational and financial needs.

Very often, children and parents can be dissuaded from joining a 'mainstream' group because of a feared perception of rejection on the grounds of:

- The group not catering for 'special needs'

- The fear of being different from the majority of people within the group

- Ability to afford the fees

At InterAct, young people are offered the chance to experience the three disciplines from a socialising point of view.  One of the most crucial aspects of InterAct is its aim to bring together groups of people that would not traditionally be in the same room.
