WORKING TO IMPROVE HEALTH CARE IN SIERRA LEONE - WEST AFRICA

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I am going to in March 2010 to work as a Senior Health Management Advisor for the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in the capital, Freetown for a minimum of 6 months. I am going with VSO, a charity who combat poverty and disadvantage through supplying experienced people to work across the world as volunteers.  They work extensively in Sierra Leone where the average life expectancy is 42 years. Maternal and infant mortality are one of the highest in the world with 1 in 5 children dying before they reach 5. Better primary health care services can make a huge difference and this is what I will be focusing on in my work with the Ministry.
