Story
Butchers and farmers throughout Scotland are dusting down their kilts in a bid to raise funds for the STV Children’s Appeal!
The Scotch Lamb Kilt2Work fund-raiser will see hundreds of butchers and farmers around the country support TV presenter Lorraine Kelly by donning their kilts to work during the run-up to the Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk on September 18th.
It is hoped the addition of a swirl of tartan plaid will add some extra colour and intrigue to the experience of customers visiting butchers’ shops across the country as well as raising some funds via STV Children’s Appeal collection boxes. It is also set to raise the profile of an on-going QMS campaign to promote simplicity and versatility of Scotch Lamb PGI.
Farmers are showng their support via a social media campaign where they could be nominated by others to wear their kilts to work, or nominate someone themselves, in return for a donation to the charity.
Everyone involved in the industry, from farmers and butchers to vets and auctioneers, is very welcome to take part, with 100% of the funds raised going to the Scottish charity.
All those who plan to get involved are reminded to take common sense steps to ensure safety and food hygiene rules are complied with when wearing the kilt to the workplace. For example non-slip footwear, not dancing shoes, should be worn meaning no birling butchers behind the counter!
Those who raise the most for the charity, which will will be invited to take part in the live STV Appeal show on September 23rd. The first 100 people from the farming industry to get involved will also receive a free STV Appeal/Scotch Lamb t-shirt as a thank you!
