Story
6th September 2010- yesterday I completed the Bristol Half Marathon in a time of 2hrs 26mins 41sec. A little slower than I predicted but after a trip to A&E 14 days before the race with a suspected stress fracture in my foot I am absolutely delighted with this result.
Once I've collected and totalled the rest of my sponsor monies I will post the grand total.
BREAKING NEWS: CHRIS & I WILL BOTH RUN THE BRISTOL 10K IN MAY 2011.
Next run Bristol Half Marathon- 5th September 2010
Training is going well, I even managed a few runs on the tiny Greek Island of Paxos.
I'm still hoping for a sub 2hour time so fingers crossed.
Please feel free to sponsor me as I'm so close to the £1,000 target.

8th May 2010- The Bristol 10K is in less than 24hrs. A big thank you to all who have sponsored me and given me words of encouragement. The training has gone really well and I'm hoping to finish within the hour. Check out my page tomorrow for race photos, my finishing time and update on my fundraising total.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page where you can help me and my family raise awareness and money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
Here's how it started, over the last 18months I have been a member of Carol Langdon's Slimming World Group in Burnham-on-Sea with the target of losing 3 stone which had accumulated over 10 years. So with all the group's help and support I hit my target a week before my 41st birthday. Wow, I felt amazing! But I needed an another challenge, firstly to keep my weight down and to improve my fitness. I decided running was a good option as I could fit it around the children and work, however there had to be a challenge attached to keep me focussed. This is where the Bristol 10k comes in and later on on in the year the Bristol Half Marathon.
Why The Prostate Cancer Charity? Well, this is for my father-in-law Don Mason who has been suffering from Prostate Cancer and has undergone radiotherapy and hormone therapy to treat it. Unfortunately the illness wasn't recognised and was incorrectly treated for about 18 months prior to the diagnosis, which itself has caused many complications.
Don has always been incredible fit and active walking up to 15 miles a week with his walking group around Seaton and many parts of the Devon countryside, he is a member of the Seaton Probus Group and a valuable member of the local Methodist Church. Unfortunately this terrible illness has meant that he cannot lead the active life that he wishes.
So by giving myself this challenge of the Bristol 10k and the Half marathon I can raise the awareness and some money for The Prostate Cancer Charity where men will have a better chance of beating this terrible illness.
