Story
Hi and thank you for taking the time to read this page. I am running the London Marathon on the 21st April 2013 which I entered last year and since the passing of Josh on the 8th January this year I am now running this in Josh’s memory to raise money for C.R.Y, a charity which researches and raises awareness in sudden adult death in young people.
We have all been devastated by Josh’s passing, such a wonderful young man with the world at his feet and just starting out in adult life. Josh was such a loveable, kind, considerate young man who was loved dearly by all his family and friends and will be missed dearly. Josh was due to join the Royal Navy to do his degree in Electrical Engineering and was so excited and thrilled to be able to study and see the world. He was an extremely fit young man who was passionate about his rugby where he played at Burnage Rugby Club along with his brother Kier and father Andrew.
The fact that this can happen to such a fit and healthy young man just shows it can happen to anyone. At least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people aged 35 and under die each week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions. C.R.Y desperately require fund raising in order to continue to spread awareness and pressure the authorities into screening young adults to help prevent such devastating tragedies.
You won’t see me running dressed as a banana and I won’t be pulling a fridge behind me, but I will be running my little heart out in memory of a wonderful and much missed nephew and for the benefit of C.R.Y. Our family are devastated by the loss of Josh, the C.R.Y Charity will hopefully prevent many more families going through the grief we have suffered – providing it gets the funding it desperately needs.
I’m training like a mad thing at the moment, driven on by this cause and to do Josh’s memory proud. When I turn that corner past Buckingham Palace and up the Mall I will probably be an emotional wreck, but hopefully it will all be worth it.
Please spend a few moments to read more about why I am running, and visit the Just Givingpage http://www.justgiving.com/CarmelrunsforJosh where you can donate whatever spare pennies you can afford.
thanks
Carmel
