We challenge attitudes on mental health to help anyone affected by mental illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On April 2nd 2017, myself and my cousin Kayleigh Carr, will be participating in the Cardiff bay run which is 10k.

Until then we will both be working very hard to keep ourselves motived and fit to finish the race in good time.

After some research i decided to choose Rethink Mental Illness as my chosen charity and hoping to raise as much as I can for them.

In June 2016 I lost my best friend who suffered with borderline personality disorder which is a mental illness and one of the conditions that rethink mental illness supports. She suffered for some time and was receiving help and support, but unfortunately the unthinkable happened when her condition caused her to self harm in a way she thought she could be safe but it went terribly wrong. If Shelley could still be with her family today she would, but with mental illness comes self harm and with self harm come risks and unthinkable consequences.

I wish that people wouldn't suffer like my best friend did and hoping in the future no family or friend has to loose important people due to mental illness and that get the right help that they need.

I am doing this for Shelley, I know that it won't change anything for me but if you could give as little or as much as you can, it could change someone else's life. I hope to do Shelley proud.
