Story
Due to excessive wind (at the airfield, not me!) my jump on 9th August was cancelled, so I spent all day waiting for my turn only to go home without having chucked myself out of a plane!! So I am now doing it on Sunday 4th August instead and I will refuse to leave until they push me out at how ever many thousand feet it is!!
My date has changed due to the airfield being closed!! Tuesday 9th August I will be jumping out of a plane near Cambridge!
On 6th August 2011 (nope 9th August.....ok 4th Septemeber IS the day) I will be doing something I never thought I would do! Strapped to a (hopefully quite dishy) man, I will be jumping out of a plane - hurtling towards the ground praying that the parachute actually opens and I will be able to actually celebrate my birthday 6 days later. Did I mention I am afraid of heights???!!!
So you may ask why I am putting myself through this....those of you who know me will either know or have heard about my 6 year old son Josh. Josh is currently waiting for a diagnosis but it is suspected he is on the autistic spectrum. Menphys have been of great support to us, helping us with forms, organising special swimming lessons for Josh and giving us endless support and motivation through their outreach service.
Menphys is a Leicestershire charity which offers help to children and young people with mental and physical disabilities and their families. Families are accepted into the care of Menphys regardless of colour, race or creed and may be faced with years of caring for their disabled child. Menphys can offer a 'range of care' in an effort to support the whole family through contact, specialist nursery education and respite.
