Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am aiming to raise £10,000 for Hostage UK. A unique and very effective charity. My solo attempt at this very long walk will take around 3 months and all the funds I raise via this page will go to Hostage UK. I hope to get private sponsorship to help cover the estimated costs of around £5,000, if not, then it will come out of my pocket!

The Via Francigena was a popular pilgrimage route in medieval times. It was only re-opened to the public a few years ago. Some sections of the French route aren't yet fully restored, which makes the planning for this sort of enterprise all the more challenging. If you'd like to learn more about the route, the official website can be found at:-

Walking on one's own for 90 odd days may sound a lonely activity but I relish the chance to think about life without the usual interruptions. In particular, about my late parents, both of whom were originally from Italy. Whilst I've back many times - never on foot!

Please donate if you can. It will help to motivate me when my legs start to ache or when I'm struggling over the Alps.
