Story
After 2 yrs of COVID delays, I'm excited to share I will be competing from 10-20th August in the Mongol Derby- the world’s longest and toughest horse race! It's a 1000km self- guided race across the Mongolian Steppe, over a max of 10 days, with 40 other international riders. Fuelled mainly by boiled goat noodles and a paltry kit bag of 5kg, we aim to recreate the postal route of Genghis Khan, camping with local herding families in traditional 'gers'.
This epic adventure will be a major physical and mental test of stamina. I dare not imagine the saddle sores that await.. The amazing Mongolian horses (semi- feral) will be swapped out every 40km to ensure they will always be fresher than the riders! Horse welfare is the #1 priority and the intrepid event organisers ('The Equestrianists) have organised a thorough support operation along the route with top vets, to ensure the equine stars are kept in good shape.
I'd love to use this endurance challenge to raise much needed funds for JERSEY HOSPICE CARE which is a charity near to the hearts of many, myself included. If you would be so kind as to sponsor me, it will truly spur me on during the tough times to come :) You can also follow my race progress via a live link, which I will share soon.
Please share and stay tuned for updates!
Much love
Carla x
