Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may be aware of events in Manchester in September 2012 where two unarmed Police Officers were shot following a routine burglary call. PC Nicola Hughes was one of the victims of the shooting.
Nicola's father, Bryn, subsequently set up the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, where the main aim is to provide learning opportunities and pre employment skills in the form of support through grants or services to children (under 21) who have suffered a tragic loss of a close family member through a violent crime such as murder or manslaughter.
Bryn has seen first hand the devastating effect this has on people and how we as adults cope in the aftermath, is different to how children cope.
The PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund would like to help them to try and rebuild their lives and look towards the future. To be able to stand on their own feet by continuing with education, where financial situations may have changed, or start that course which will enable them to gain employment.
I am running the New York Marathon in November alongside Bryn and many other members of Police Forces across the UK, to raise awareness of the charity, and vital funds to enable it to continue to achieve its primary goals.
Bryn is a tireless fundraiser and this year he has come up with the idea of getting at least one member of each police force in the UK to run the New York Marathon this November to raise funds for this vital charity. The aim of this event is to raise at least £40,000 to fund a pilot project with the National Homicide Service to help children affected by murder.
Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated and going to a very worthwhile cause. You can also text your donation in. Simply text CHNY98 and the amount (£1 upwards) to 70070. If you could also add Gift Aid to your donation that would be great, as this adds 25% on top of your original donation for free.
Thank you!!
