I will be sky diving on Saturday 11th June to raise funds for Ben View Resource Centre in Dumbarton. If you know me then you will know that Im terrified of heights so this is a huge challenge for me but one that im very excited about :-)

Ben View Community Centre is a registered Scottish Charity which provides a warm, safe and welcoming place for local community and activity groups. 

The aim of the Centre is to make a difference to the well being of the communities and supports over 500 people a week through the services on offer. Ben View offers a daily social lunch club for older people who have an identified social need, for many this can be isolation and without the lunch club would have no other social contact in their life. The lunch club operates with the support of 20 local volunteers. There is community bathing serice which is given to 90 people per week either in their home or withinin the centre. 

Many local support groups hire rooms in the Centre on a weekly basis. Some of te new initiatives that have began are a Youth Group, Toy Library and a Community Cafe. There are also 4 offices which are let out to other charities i.e. Alzheimer Scotland, Stepping Stones Organisation and West Dunbartonshire Mental Health Forum all of whom provide a necessary and valuable service to the people of West Dunbartonshire and beyond. 

The Centre relies heavily on fundraising to meet its annual costs and also to assist in the current refurbishment programme which is allowing the much needed improvements to the Centre to be carried out, creating an environement that meets the needs of the community.
