Story
I will be running the Great North Run is September 2014.
I am doing it to raise money and help contribute towards a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The run is 13.1 miles (just over half a marathon) that's double the distance I've ever managed to run before. It's going to be a challenge but knowing it will make a difference makes every ache and pain worth it.
Recently, friends of mine have discovered that their young son Reuben Mathew Mansfield has DMD.
Reuben is just 18months and has recently been diagnosed with this terrible illness.
DMD is a progressive muscle weakness that leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues with the heart and lungs and especially with structure of the body and movement.
Reuben is likely to end up relying on a wheelchair and has been given until his late 20's to live. We NEED to cure this.
This disease is pure evil, please please help me help him! We need to raise as much money to help find a cure for him and every other person suffering because of it!
