Story
My name is Chris Byrne and I'm 31 years old. I'm husband to Caroline and dad to my 10 month old son Harry. Last November when my son was 4 weeks old I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. After some consideration, in December I underwent surgery to remove the tumour which didn't exactly go to plan. I woke up paralysed on my right side with no speech. After 5 months in Beaumont Hospital I was moved to the National Rehabilitation Centre for 2 months.
After a month at home I returned to Beaumont Hospital for a check-up scan which provided me with the scary knowledge that I had a new growth which was confirmed as Cancer Grade 4 Multiforme Glioblastoma. I underwent further surgery to have this tumour removed and I'm currently receiving Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy for the next 6 months.
To date there is no cure for this type of Cancer. Cancer Research are working hard to find a cure. I would really appreciate it if you could make a donation through this site to Cancer Research to assist them in finding a cure. I would also like to raise the profile of this type of Cancer as very little is known about the causes of this disease. All donations would be greatly appreciated and will go towards Cancer Research through the Irish Cancer Society.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their continued support, message, prayers and cards. It has been a tremendous support to both me and my family over the last 9 months
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
Chris
