Story

Camp Inspire is a pioneering, inclusive summer holiday day camp for 4 to 17 year olds that aims to improve the physical, emotional and mental health and social wellbeing of children in preparation for a return to school in September.

Camp Inspire provides opportunities for all but we particularly want to reach disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people who often are unable to access this sort of provision.

Funded places are offered on the basis of highest need for those meeting any of the following criteria;

  • Those identified as vulnerable or at risk of exploitation
  • Children in Care
  • Children with Special Education Needs or Disabilities
  • Children with suffering with a Mental Health problems
  • Children from low income families
We currently have applications that have been accepted from 120 children for a funded place and a growing waiting list, but we have only enough funding for 85 places

Of the 140 children signed up;

  • 85% meet at least one of the disadvantaged criteria with most meeting several of them
  • 60% are from low income families
  • 55% are under Social Care with the majority on Child in Need or Child Protection plans
  • 35% have referrals to Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services
  • 50% have special education needs or disabilities
  • 20% are children in care
A donation of £20 provides a place for child for a day, £500 will cover a place for the whole summer. We desperately want to help every child that applies regardless of cost but we need help to do that.

The feedback received so far clearly shows what a difference Camp Inspire is making after just one week;

“I picked him up and he burst into tears and hugged me….he said he had such a fabulous time and he’s found his reason to get up in the morning. He’s really proud of himself and so are all his family.”

“Just thought I’d say what a fantastic job you guys are doing. Paige has loved it so much – thank you for making her feel welcome.”

“I can’t believe how much he is loving camp. He is such a mummy’s boy he hates being away from me and now he can’t wait to go.”

“He is full of positivity and stories when he comes home so I can already see him thriving.”

“Both of my boys are loving it, it’s been a life saver for the whole family to be honest.”

“Liam has had a fantastic day! Thank you to you and the team for supporting him when he needed it.”

“Thank you so much. I can honestly say that being at Camp Inspire has been fantastic for Dillen. Since lockdown in March, he has been to school for ten sessions and I have had to collect him for five of them early due to his behaviour. You obviously have found exactly what motivates him and entertains him.”

“Massive thank you to all the team for a fantastic first week, the work you have out into Camp is amazing and my three boys have had a fantastic time. I received a text message one lunch time from my 16yr old telling me he was having a blast!!!! This is a child with no self confidence, low esteem and lots of other difficulties. I can’t explain what it means.”

“After only one week I have seen such a massive confidence boost in my kids from Camp Inspire…you guys really are an inspiration.”

“The camp has boosted their self esteem and given them the confidence to actually be themselves. The planning and organisation is fantastic. Scott and all of the team work so hard to engage with the children and build such positive relationships with them. My boys absolutely love it. The CFC Community Trust should be incredibly proud of Camp Inspire and everything it wants to achieve. Thank you so much.”
