Story
Hello everyone, there's not long to go before my triathlon event in September and I need to get on my bike, into my wetsuit and hit the ground running if I intend to meet my fund raising target of £500 for my chosen charity Action for M.E. There is a massive social stigma concerning M.E. and part of the hope of meeting this ambitious target is to help counter the largely apathetic response and scepticism it has garnered. It would really mean the world to me if you could contribute whatever you can. I will be competing in the 2012 Virgin Active London Triathlon's 'Women's Supersprint' which combines 400m swimming, 10km biking & 2.5km running and will hope to earn every sum of money donated by looking very silly in goggles and rubber. All this because the Virign Active London Teaparty was over-subscribed! Thanks for standing by, Camille Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. There seems to be very poor overall awareness of M.E. (Myalgic Encephalopathy) as a seriously disabling condition that devastates people's lives. This ignorance extends from the heart of Government, through the NHS and the Department for Work and Pensions, right down to employers. The aim of my fundraising is as much therefore about giving better insight into the condition as well as raising money for the charity who I believe are doing outstanding work in supporting sufferers who are heavily stigmatised. Action for M.E. is one of the few organisations driving the agenda on scientific research in a bid to open up understanding of the biology of M.E. but with so little recognition from the Government and the medical profession it is totally dependent on donations to continue funding its work in helping people who are isolated by their illness and the prevailing attitude of society. So please dig deep and donate now. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. |
