The human spine is literally the backbone to our lives. It gives us the gift of mobililty & freedom to carry out anything from the most mundane of tasks to the incredibly intricate; almost all of the activities we undertake during the day require us to use our spine...
We all appreciate life's simple little pleasures...like walking through the park, perhaps going for a run, swimming on a hot summer's day. If the spine is damaged or injured, we could so easily lose that mobility...
Imagine if you were told, "sorry, but you're paralysed from the waist down. You'll never walk again and you'll never have children."
Awful to imagine. Every step I run I am conscious of how lucky I am and how much I depend on the functionality of my spine.
For that reason I wish to take advantage of my good fortune by raising as much as I can for those who have suffered spinal injury.
The loss of mobility does not have to be permanent. Every year 800 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. It is estimated that over 40,000 people in the UK alone are paralysed by spinal cord injury. Spinal Research is a UK based charity, working internationally to develop therapies to restore feeling and mobility to people paralysed as a result of breaking their neck or back.
Please help me to raise money for a great cause.
Spinal Research receive no government funding and are only able to carry on research thanks to the generous backing of supporters.
Please dig deep and help a great cause.
Thank you for your support.
