Story
I am riding to raise money and awareness for this wonderful charity.
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
Sadly I lost my grandad in February this year, so this charity is particularly close to my heart. They made his last few weeks as comfortable as possible, and helped us as a family where needed.
When it came to the point where my grandad needed more help, it was decided he was not well enough to be moved to the Sue Ryder hospice. They said "No problem, we will bring the hospice to you" . With very short notice they were able to bring all the equipment needed to help and make my grandads last few days comfortable. The carers not only helped my grandad above and beyond, but they also took a huge pressure off our family so we could focus on helping each other through this hard time. Even after my grandad sadly passed they called and made sure we knew they were there for us anytime. We could never thank them enough for their kindness and support.
