Story
Our purpose
Cambridge Aid provides rapid, practical grants for people in crisis in Cambridge and surrounding areas.
How do we help?
We accept applications from more than 30 charitable organisations and local council teams. We give a one-off grant of up to £200 in one year. We usually respond within 72 hours of receiving a grant application.
Our commitment
99% of all donations go to those in need. In 2021, we gave £141,000 in total with only just over £800 of costs, which means our overheads were only about 1% of grants made. All the trustees are volunteers, and as much as possible, we will continue to keep our operating costs to the absolute minimum.
We also conduct due diligence. No grants are given in cash to individuals. We provide the grant through the referral organisation and we conduct due diligence every month to check that the grant has gone to the recipient and has been used for the intended purpose. Unused vouchers/ cheques are returned to us as sometimes the situation of the grant recipient may have changed.
Our beliefs
- Human compassion
- No judgement
- Rapid support
