Story
SUCCESS! Calum reached the summit of Ama Dablam on Sunday the 25th October! Dave didnt make it up Ama Dablam due to a chest infection but climbed to over 20000ft on Laboche and reached Everest Base Camp! They are both delighted with their achievements and would like to say thankyou to everyone who has donated and to keep on donating to reach the target. Thanks!
My name is Calum and I am attempting to climb Ama Dablam in the Himalayas with my father, Dave Morris, and our friend Sandy Allan, on his Team Ascent Expedition. We will travel out to Nepal on the 2 of October and return on the 2 of November. Ama Dablam is a 22,500ft high peak and has been described as one of the most spectacular mountains in the world. Before attempting to climb Ama Dablam we will trek to Everest base camp to acclimatise. I am raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust in aid of the great work they do for young people who are battling with cancer. My sister, Esme, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in November 2006 and has spent a lot of time in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. She continues to make vast progress and gets a lot of support from The Teenage Cancer Trust. Another motivation for me to raise money for a cancer charity is because my father was also treated for cancer in 2008. He had his voice box removed in January 2009 so climbing Ama Dablam will be a huge accomplishment for him. This accent will also be a major challenge for me, being only 16 years of age. I would encourage you to donate as much as you can as anyone, even perfectly healthy people, can be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, as my sister and father's stories prove.
All the money you donate will go into developing the Teenage Cancer Trust centre at the Royal Hospital for Sick Kids in Edinburgh so many more children like Esme can receive the great care the charity give.
