Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April 2013 this year my dad sadly lost his fight with Cancer. Dad was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer which attacked the conjuctiva and then spread through the lymph system. I found a few things quite startling, firstly in that eye tumours are only treated in 3 places in England / Wales: Liverpool, Sheffield and London, and the specific treatment my father had could only take place on Merseyside. Also it is apparent that because his cancer was so rare, the research on it, its causes and future treatment are incredibly small compared to the more well known and common cancers.
After some research I have found a charity called OcuMel UK that offer support services to those with ocular melanomas, and that are also trying to promote research and profile of this rare cancer within the UK and set up more treatment centres within the NHS.
This cancer killed my dad, and it needn't effect anybody else or their families.
Myself, my best friend and my fantastic boyfriend are all pulling together to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in honour of my dad.
My dad was my hero and for me this is a chance to give something back to how brave, strong and determined he was throughout his battle.
So please dig deep and donate now, any amount will help beat and recognise this rare type of cancer.
Many Thanks x
