Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to walk a large section of Hadrians Wall this coming September. This was originally just a way to encourage myself to do more exercise and get a little healthier, but I'm very lazy, so I thought that if I raised money for a charity I wouldn't be able to back out.
I chose Booktrust because, while literacy charities don't seem as vital as many others, the ability to read and write is essential to take part in modern life. Without it, a person cannot get work, cannot even claim benefits. They simply can't interact with our world in any meanigful way. And far too many adults leave school functionally illiterate. That simply shouldn't happen in a first world country.
Not only that, but booktrust aim to foster a love of reading and easy access to books for children. As an avid reader in my childhood I cannot imagine my life without the joy, comfort, education and life lessons that broad reading gave me. And as a writer, I want more readers in the world so I can get a best seller some day!
I know that times are tough and money is tight. But if you can spare even a fiver you could change so much for someone. You could change their whole life.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
