Story

Thank you for visiting our Choral Pilgrimage Walk - Save Canterbury Cathedral JustGiving page.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Choral Pilgrimage, Harry Christophers and a group of singers from The Sixteen, the ‘Voices of Classic FM’, will undertake a nine-day, 105-mile pilgrimage walk along the North Downs Way, from Guildford to Canterbury.

The walk will be led by countertenor Christopher "if I hadn’t become a singer I would have been a geography teacher" Royall and takes in several places of musical interest along the way including the grave of famous countertenor Alfred Deller, at Boughton Aluph, and Limpsfield Church near Oxted where Frederick Delius and Sir Thomas Beecham are buried.

We are raising money for two charities close to Harry Christophers's heart -  Save Canterbury Cathedral and World Vision and aim to raise £50,000 between the two charities.

Save Canterbury Cathedral launched in 2006 with a fundraising target of £50 million. The stones, stained glass and roof of this World Heritage Site are all in desperate need of restoration and rennovation. £10 million has been raised so far and has enabled vital conservation work to the fabric of Canterbury Cathedral and, through the modernisation of the Choir House, the continuation of the historic choral tradition of which Harry Christophers himself is an alumnus.
