Story
For the fifth year in a row, Cambridgeshire Junior Lawyers Division will support the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) as our chosen charity of 2022. Throughout the year we will fundraise for the charity, meaning you can support this cause by getting involved in our events!
What does the CRCC do?
The CRCC is a specialist organisation providing user-led support for victims of sexual violence. It provides a wide range of services including a helpline, counselling service, and an Independent Sexual Violence Advocacy service which provides emotional and practical support for survivors of sexual violence in their navigation of the Criminal Justice System.
It delivers training and provides a wealth of resources on its website, raising awareness of issues related to sexual violence. For example, seeking to dispel rape myths and providing knowledge for survivors, parents, supporters, and professionals.
How can we help?
Financial support is vital to the work that the CRCC does, and the counselling service saw its highest ever number of referrals in the first 6 months of 2021. Not only that but CRCC continues to adapt its services in light of the ever-changing backdrop of Covid-19, for example providing hybrid counselling services online, by phone and in person.
The charity is growing, with several new recruits at the end of last year, and has opportunity to provide desperately needed services for more survivors of rape and sexual violence in 2022. Fundraising is essential to their growth, and we will continue to play a part in facilitating the invaluable work that the charity does.
This year we are hoping to raise our highest ever total, so keep an eye out for upcoming events in aid of CRCC and join us in supporting such an important cause.
