Story
Dear Friend,
Thank you for coming to my page, and a big thank you to my Friends returning to my page for what is now the third year in a row! I really do appreciate your continued support. So why do I keep riding in these really tough bike rides?
Well for me it is all about reducing poverty and increasing global inclusion by creating better access to technology, and that is what Computer Aid International stands for. Here's some examples of the projects that money raised through the various bike rides has enabled it to do:
E-Agriculture: How ICT can help improve food security, E-Inclusion: How ICT enhances education for blind students,
Telemedicine: Laptops Saves Lives by providing services to rural communities and support fighting Malaria in Zambia, HIV/Aids
Supporting sustainable development in Venezuela, Computers to Strengthen Fairtrade Associations,
Providing ICT to Ethiopian schools, training in Mauritania, E-Learning, Education for Vulnerable Communities in Colombia,
Innovation is a big part in the projects for me. Every year the kinds of solutions that are deployed are changing. A couple of years ago I helped raise money for a computer lab in Africa but the solution wasn't sustainable without continued financial support. The desire for a sustainable solution has led to the development of a container based computer lab with solar panels and other equipment to make it self suficient. It's just brilliant Like any innovation there are all sorts of commercial spin offs...so everyone wins!
