Story
Hello JustGiving users...I have been lost for words on what to write, so instead, I'm using my daughters description...
In September 2018 my mother, Celia Durham, will be walking The Atlas Mountains (Morocco) to raise money for St Catherine's Hospice in Scarborough. She already donates two days of her week as a counsellor to this unbelievably worthy and acutely necessary charitable organisation. Anyone, person, family, husband, wife, son, mother, father, daughter or friend that has found themselves in a situation where they have sought out St Catherine's Hospice for support, strength and guidance will agree with that statement.
In supporting my mum to do this CRAZY Challenge next year, (age 73!) she now joins me every Saturday morning for a hike with the dogs. This has become the treat that rounds off a hard week of training. At the moment mum swims three times a week, walks at least three times a week and my beautiful friend, 'Runners' or 'Running Man' - (AKA Steven Watson, running & laughing partner, musical creator, mischief maker and soul brother) has become mums personal trainer. He lays out perhaps a 3 month programme for mum at a time, dividing it up to focus on strengthening different parts, physical, mental, biological, respiratory etc during that time. The following videos are of Mum, having now been training for 11 weeks - AMAZING ! she has such grit, determination & tenacity!! - showing how far she has come to date by climbing a KILLER of a hill near Wintringham (Part of the famous 80 mile Wolds Way Walk)
Please support Mum by watching and adding your comments of congratulation, encouragement or just plain old abuse. Anything basically that will help her up hill & down dale between now and next September when said Mrs C Durham is going to officially SPANK The Atlas Mountains!!! 😇
So there you have it, that's me and this is what I'm doing. Please feel free to donate and support. Thank you
