Climb for More Change

In 2007 a group of 15 Grundfos employees and customers climbed the 5,892 meter , raising around €120,000 for SACRED.  The climb is one of natures great altitude related challenges.

On we return to Kilimanjaro to start our ascent.  This time with a smaller group of Grundfos employees  - being joined by a small group of MD's from our key customers in the .

To maximise the fund raising potential of the climb all of the costs of the climb will be met by the climbers themselves, so any monies raised will go 100% to SACRED.

Fundraising 2009/2010

Our aim is to raise a further 100,000 Euros.  With these funds we will: -

+ Secure the education of children for up to 5 more years.

+ Provide computers for the schools.

+ Expand the feeding schemes.

+ Increase the number of mobile laboratories.

+ Increase the number of mobile libraries.

+ Expand the AIDS awareness program

    Beneficiaries of SACRED

Angel Nkambule (in her own words)

From her Facebook information we read that Angel Nkambule is a 7 year old girl undertaking Grade 1 studies at which has 1200 students.

She travels by taxi the 3 kilometres to her school and wakes up at 6.30 every morning.  Her best friends are Nokulunga and Nokuthula and her father, Sam, works at Brisan Turbo – BZA.  Her mother Hilda is unemployed and she has no brothers or sisters.

Angel lives in a two bed roomed house on .

She got to know about SACRED when it was introduced at her father’s workplace and she received funds which are used for her school uniform and school fees.  She hopes that SACRED will continue this help with her school needs so that she can continue her studies at university.  When she graduates, Angel would like to be a police officer.

She writes:  “Thank you for providing for me and please continue to do good work.  May God bless you in whatever you do.”

Through the operations of Grundfos in Johannesburg SACRED became acutely aware of the extreme poverty and hardship affecting the local people (including the children of Grundfos own local employees). SACRED uses the funds it raises to provide education, training and housing, doing all it can to break the poverty cycle.
