Story
Remember the hell I put myself through last year for the Mazda London Triathlon? Well, guess what folks? I'm doing it all over again! Yes, that's right, I'm proving myself to be a glutton for punishment, this time by taking part in the Mazda Blenheim Triathlon on Sunday June 6th.
Now, whilst the overall distance will be the same, the course itself is 'undulating' to say the least, which means the likelihood of me keeling over and dying during the race will be amplified tenfold (as most of you will know, I am NOT a fan of hills).
I will also be taking part in the mixed category rather than the women's (cue lots of frantic face kicking as the men - and most probably other women - overtake me in the lake!), and (perhaps most importantly of all) I will be abstaining from the booze and fags for three weeks prior to race day - surely this alone will give you reason enough to put hand in pocket and donate whatever you can affford to the coffers of my chosen Charity, Ronald McDonald House Charities?!
Working for this fab Charity has enabled me to meet some of the hundreds of families it supports each year across the UK, and I believe I speak on behalf of them all when I say the accommodation it provides is invaluable - without it, mums and dads would literally have to sleep in their cars or on the floors of hospital wards to be close to their seriously ill children.
I appreciate this is a big ask, particularly given that I approached many of you for donations last year, but I can't stress enough what a difference your donations will make, large or small.
THANK YOU.
