Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A little while back our scout leader sent us an email talking about a 100 mile hike through Serbia. At first, it seemed like a crazy idea. I won't lie. I'm not the most active, or the fittest person out there. The longest I've walked has been over three days, and the farthest at once 25 miles or so.
Then I thought, "Why not?" The worst that can happen is that I can't complete the walk, and even if that is the case, I've still been to Serbia. So i decided to go ahead with it and signed up.
As it became nearer the time, I decided to make it a charity event. If I'm going to be lugging my butt over the Serbian terrain, I might as well do it for a worthy cause.
The charity I chose was Devon Air Ambulance. Devon Air Ambulance cover a multitude of tasks, and it's their charity base that keeps the two helicopters in the air. To keep them running, it costs are around £4,000,000 per year, and they receive no government funding. Which means it's down to volunteers and donations.
So. In August 2010, I'll be walking 100 miles for Devon Air Ambulance.
Click the button, and spare some cash :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A total of 175km, and one GIANT blister, and the walk's been completed!!

We completed the walk in a total of 175km - an extra 15km to what was originally planned - in temperatures ranging from 39'C, to around 30'C, and weather from bright sunshine that's almost unbearable to walk in, to flash downpours and thunderstorms.

We met some wonderful people, and some not so wonderful. We had kittens follow us, and dogs follow us, and random children follow us.

We spent a day lost in the mountains, and a night house-sitting for Serbian students.

It was a wonderful experience, and a huge achievement.

I'd like to thank those that have already sponsored me, and ask those who haven't to dig in their pockets and spare a little :)
