Story

This summer holidays Brydie thought we could take on the challenge of canoeing the safe navigable length of the River Wye – almost 100 miles.  The idea is to use it to raise money towards the cost of the clinical trials for a potential vaccine for Crohn’s disease.

This has the potential to transform lives, particularly for children who are increasingly the ones being diagnosed with Crohn’s.  35 years of research at KCL has identified a bacteria (MAP) that may cause Crohn’s; and has produced a potential vaccine that now needs funding through clinical trials.  It feels worth testing out…  For more info on this go to:

Brydie has lived much of her life affected by the disease her mum, Jan, has – and has seen both how ill it can make people, and how in remission there are still debilitating side effects that disrupt daily life.  As the amazing River Wye is on our doorstep, she thought it would be a great challenge to see if we could canoe its length…
