Story
Competitive? Moi?!
I know, I know... it's mad. Once would be enough for most people but I just had to do the London Marathon again.
Last year I was convinced I could limbo in under the 4 hour mark so when my time came in at 4.06 I was just the teensiest bit disappointed (even though it was a really hot day and it was my first 26-miler blah-de-blah).
So this year I'm aiming to get the old bones round in 3hrs 45mins.
Of course this also gives me the perfect excuse to get out and avoid doing anything useful at home or having to spend any 'quality time' there for the next four months. I'll just be too busy down the gym or doing one of those interminably long runs I have to do. Result!
Joking aside, the best reason for doing the first ever Virgin London Marathon this year is to raise money for a fantastic charity The Children's Trust which is based in Tadworth, Surrey.
The trust helps families with children with multiple disabilities whether they are born with them or whether they come on suddenly as a result of an accident or illness.
They offer residential care, short breaks (respite care) and rehabilitation for children with acquired brain injuries.
They also care for children in their own homes and run The Children's Trust School, St Margarets.
I'm going up to visit the Trust this weekend (17th January) to see first hand some of the work they do.
Thank you to everyone who supported me running for the RNLI last year. You were amazing!
And I would be really grateful if all those (and some more of you!) who chipped in so generously last year could do so again in order to help support the work done by the staff at The Children's Trust.
Thank-you!
