Story
I am a Dominican Friar, from our Priory in Cambridge, studying at the University. I am raising funds for the training of more Dominicans to preach the Gospel.
"The God who has girded me with strength has opened wide my path. He made my feet like the feet of deer, and set me secure on the heights."
- 2 Samuel 22:33-34
The challenge
At midnight, on 27 June, 2015, I will begin the Ultimate Trails Ultra Marathon, a 110km (68 mile) foot race over the hills and trails of the Lake District. The early start is to allow the greatest possible time for daylight over this gruelling test of stamina. Running into the rising sun, I hope to finish before it sets again!
The motivation
We need to train our younger friars; men who have committed their lives to serve people, intellectually, pastorally and materially. This formation takes place over 1 year in Cambridge and 6 years in Oxford to prepare these men for the challenges of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for today's society.
We have many new friars wanting to learn, but, despite our simple life together, the costs of appropriate, high quality training are considerable. We need help to support this endeavour.
What you can do
Please consider sponsoring me in this challenge. God has blessed the Dominicans in England and Scotland with many new vocations but we need your support to use this great gift.
Thank you and may God bless you!
