Story

Hello, our names are Hanny, Mollie and Lois and we are BT graduates taking part in the Gradventure 2021 Fundraiser. Gradventure is an annual programme, created and completed by grads to support great charitable causes. This year, Gradventure is supporting TeenTech. The charity focuses on exposing young people across the UK whose life choice may be limited, to exciting opportunities in science, technology and engineering.

As fundraisers, we have already held our very own version of 'Would I Lie to You: Episode 1' , and are now ready for 'Would I Lie to You: Episode 2' featuring the IT Leadership Team split into 2 teams, where they will reveal outrageous and random stories about themselves- some true, some not. Who knows? It'll be up to the opposing team to sort the fact from fiction.

The event will be held on Wednesday 19th May. Please contact hanny.elsworth@bt.com if you would like to attend the event. Whilst this event is of course free to attend, we welcome any donations. Please be assured that all of the money that you donate today will go directly to TeenTech.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The TeenTech Charity reaches thousands of young people across the UK, helping them understand exciting opportunities in science, technology and engineering and most importantly, their own potential to shine in those areas. We work with young people from the age of 8-19, with a focus on those whose life choices may be limited, whether through gender, ethnicity, social background, differently abled, special needs. Our lively, highly interactive programmes change their perceptions and generate deep enthusiasm for learning. We have a strong reputation for building effective, long lasting relationships between schools and local, national and global organisations, especially for students whose backgrounds mean they lack a network of contacts or informed parental support. Our students become powerful role models in their school and wider community. Our impact is long lasting, schools report more students choosing STEM subjects (one reported a 300% increase over 5 years, another in Physics from 43% to 87.5%) and the teachers are better placed to provide context for learning after we have finished the project. Parents and teachers describe TeenTech as “everything education should be from inspiring children to act on real life issues, letting them respond and build independently and then listening to their ideas and discussing their inventions.
