Story
As you may be aware last Sunday 24 April 2020 marked the launch of the 2.6 Challenge - Save UK’s Charities. The aim is to help thousands of charities that are now experiencing massive shortfalls in support and funding across the UK due to various events including the London marathon being cancelled.
During these difficult and challenging times, now more than ever there is a need to provide practical and financial help to those who are in need. For many people, the hope of securing employment which was a challenge in better times, has become even more difficult. Those who until recently had been in secure employment or had job offers are now facing unemployment, withdrawal of offers and an uncertain future.
Here at TP ICAP, we are always up for a challenge! The HR Front Office Team, comprising of Cathy, Carolyne, Annie, Eliza, Jasmine, Duncan and Andrew have decided to undertake a 2.6 Challenge of their own.
Using our collective knowledge and experience as HR professionals we have decided we could add most value by partaking in a coaching marathon. We pledge to give 26 hours of our time collectively to coach young people from disadvantaged backgrounds during the next 2.6 months.
The money we raise for this will all go to Leadership Through Sport & Business, a social mobility charity that prepares and supports underprivileged and bright young talent into meaningful roles in accounting and technology with major firms.
They make sure those at risk of under-employment through inequality find careers which match their ambition and ability, and fundamentally, that they can contribute from their first day on the job.
However, it does not just stop here – if you can’t donate money or already given to other 2.6 challenges, we thank you! But we would like to ask if you can donate your time? Just 30 minutes!
So we are asking 26 of you who read this and feel inspired to volunteer to help us as well.
Thank you for your support, we hope you can see how valuable this cause is in building a better and brighter future for everyone!
