We've done it now, so scroll to the bottom to see some pics and hear about the day. Please also read the why. Thanks.
Raising money & awareness for Multiple Myeloma
Brie: Before Lila contracted this form of cancer in 2012 I had heard little about it but since then then, not only do I know more than I care to know but I have to say that the work everyone does at Myeloma UK supporting patients and families as well as lobbying the government for changes in the drugs available through the NHS and leading the way in research, I believe they deserve our support, both financially and to raise awareness. This walk I hope will help both aspects of their work while I get a nice coffee on a Sunday morning.
Lila: Never having heard of Multiple Myeloma before I was diagnosed with it, I now am very keen to get the message across to the general public at large about the work Myeloma UK is doing and this sounds like a good (and fun) way of doing it!
About the event: we will be tackling the West End on a Sunday morning - scaling escalators in department stores, coping with less than perfect croissants in coffee bars and maybe even, depending on how intrepid we're feeling, dealing with a couple of sales assistants in shops. This is a charity fund-raising event to put all others to shame; forget the Himalayas, Kilimanjaro or cycling to Paris, this is "the" challenge.
NB: for those that know me, (Brie), please note that this is the first selfie I've ever taken and the fact that there's a picture there of me, says it all. Donate BIG!

So on a very cold for May, grey, windy, and drizzly day, Lila, myself, (Brie), our friend Isabel and her daughter Elizabeth, set out from Cavendish Square in the West End to take on this extreme challenge. After about 500 metres we stopped for a coffee. Phew....
Except for the cold, it was a lovely day, we didn't really get rained on, Elizabeth kept us all jolly and many of the retailers along our route had incentives of vouchers or even gifts so one didn't want to skip on the route.
Myeloma UK also organised a quiz along the way, some things about shops, some about the local streets and some about the history of Myeloma.
Well done to all the organisers and all the volunteers.
