Yuletide Yarnbomb for YMCA Guildford · 27 November 2018

We are the largest regional charity in Sussex and Surrey working to prevent youth homelessness and support children and young people’s emotional and mental health. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Story

Crafty serial knitters have created a festive assortment of Christmas characters which have magically appeared on Pewley Hill ... all to raise awareness for the YMCA's Positive Placements project.

The project is for local young people aged 16 - 25 years old, who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) and would like some extra support, through mentoring, to achieve their goals.

Positive Placements is completely voluntary for both mentor and mentee.  After a young person expresses an interest in the project, they are then 'matched' with a local volunteer mentor with whom they then meet once a week, for as long as needed (up to one year).

"Positive Placements hasn’t just helped me with work but has also given me happiness, someone to talk to every week, meaning to life and so much more"

Young mentee from Positive Placements

Thank you for supporting for your local YMCA.
